Dr Ezgi Bay Sahin

I am a Turkish architect and academic. I earned my PhD in Technologies of the Built Environment from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago after completing an MSc in Architectural Design at Istanbul Technical University.
Over the years, I have received several awards and fellowships, including the Douglas Haskell Award for Student Journals (AIA New York, 2020), the Race to Zero Student Design Competition Award (U.S. Department of Energy, 2017), the Turkish Government Doctoral Scholarship, and the Illinois Institute of Technology Graduate Scholarship.
Before moving to the UK, I taught at the Illinois Institute of Technology, the University of Utah, and Korkut Ata University. I also collaborate with research groups at the University of Texas at San Antonio, the Illinois Institute of Technology, Drexel University, Medipol University, and Hasan Kalyoncu University.
Research Overview
My research focuses on sustainable design, building technology, and occupant thermal comfort, health, and well-being. I have worked extensively on energy efficiency in residential and historic buildings, as well as on natural ventilation and the relationships between thermal comfort, airflow, energy use, and architectural design.
